Globular Cluster

I. HEADING

Name
Date
Globular Clusters and The Galaxy

II. OBJECTIVE

Well doing this laboratory assignment we exit be recreating Shapleys experiment- using modern, more accurate data- to get an idea of the scale of our galaxy. Then we will determine the globular clusters of our galaxy by using the coordinates that will be converted to astronomical coordinate. That will be transformed into rectangular (x,y,z) coordinates. The coordinates be sterilize by the x coordinate is in the direction of the astronomic center, the y coordinate is perpendicular to the x in the astronomic plane, and the two coordinate is the distance of the cluster above or below the plane of the galaxy. The plane of the galaxy is defined by x and y coordinates alone that will be define. along with this exercise I will be plotting the sights in a graphically, by using rectangular coordinates. The x and y coordinates, the distances are in kilo-parsecs (Kpc). The conversion factor 1 used was 1 Kpc = 1000 parsecs. Also 1 km= 1000 meters.

III. PROCEDURE

As a result of beginning this lab we had to have a piece of rectangular coordinate graph paper, and plot the position of each cluster listed in the accompanying table. While ground up my graph and finding the extreme values of x and y.

By having the suns coordinates at (0,0) and the positive of x direction is scalelike to the galactic core. Then came the plotting of all 59 objects, following by the center of the general distribution. in that location a theory that states that it should be roughly circular, and that the symmetrical that is respect to the x axis that is favourable to be located. By plotting all the x axis, then we exact to also plot the clusters with the signs of their y coordinate distance reversed. There have been Astronomers that have discovered that the sun is in approximately circular orbit around the center of the galaxy it moves a velocity of 250 km/sec. By gathering this information by using the distance to the center of the galaxy, the...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
