Any atomic number 53 that has been in a serious kind would have that every relationship faces some hardships. For some of those hardships, it is hard to depart on in the relationship and continue to date iodin another. For those instances, it may be in the best interest of both individuals to part and move on to another stage in their life. In Sonnet 61, Michael Drayton faces a similar instance.
In the first quatrain, Drayton addresses that there is no more help for his relationship with his significant other. He then requests that they have a clean, mutual breakup: Since theres no help, come permit us kiss and part ;(1). Drayton also emphasizes that this is final, the relationship is no more. Here, he wants this to be the end for good, because he states that he feels large happiness for this relationship coming to an end. He approves the theme of organism free again: And I am cheerful, yea glad with all my heart that thus so cleanly I myself can free; (3-4).
In the second quatrain, Drayton continues to enforce the idea that this is a clean breakup and it is final.

He desires for there to be no sense of awkwardness when they come across individually other in the future:
Shake hands forever, annul all our vows,
And when we meet at anytime again,
Be it not seen in either of our brows
That we one jot of former love retain. (5-8)
credit line 5 reinforces that the breakup is final, yet clean and mutual. Sometimes when one addresses the idea of future awkwardness after a breakup, that mayhap a foreshadow that he or she is having second thoughts on the breakup.
The third quatrain is where Draytons position on the breakup seems to be taking a turn. In lines 9 through 12, Drayton is addressing that their love is real close to the end:
Now at the die hard gasp of loves latest breath,
When his pulse failing, temper speechless lies,
When Faith is kneeling by his bed of death,
And white is closing up his eyes, (9-12)
