The case study samples came from Ellie (not her real name), aged 14, was set(p) in her first year of attending naturalize in the US in a special program knowing for ESOL students who have had interrupted education called the Multidisciplinary Education, Training, Support (METS) program. She took math and translation classes with one teacher and world studies and ESL classes with another teacher among 16 to 18 students (11 from Spanish-speaking countries, 3 from Africa, 2 from the Caribbean, 1 from brazil nut and 2 newcomers from Sri Lanka). Ellie was born in Esteli, Nicaragua in January 1992 when her pose was notwithstanding 15 years anile growing up when the Sandinistas were battle against inequality, poverty and low living standards. Her mother had only reached sixth grade and moved to Costa Rica in 1996 leaving her 4-year old daughter with her parents.

She later reunited with her mother in Costa Rica in 2001 and began fourth grade when she was nine years old and ending 6th grade in a public school in San Jose, Costa Rica. Contact with her father was initiated after her mother married a Costa Rican and had two children, which later resulted in leaving Costa Rica and legally coming to the US. At bakers dozen years old, she met her biological father, along with his wife and their daughter, for the first sentence and currently resides with them in Bethesda. Her father briefly served in the force and currently works as an air-conditioning technician.
