Task:
What is something I read in this weeks reading that you curbnt heard about originally?
To think about all the carriages I have met in my life. Choose the one that stood out as being the scoop up in his or her role as a manager and describe what makes him/her a great manager?
Choose what I think are the 3 most essential characteristics of an potent manager.
Response:
Looking back on my career so far it is refreshing to learn that the beliefs and values I larn and strive for, are in line with results from studies done more or less the world (reading 1.1). I have had experience with Japanese melodic line men/women; I find their system of hierarchy and see something to be admired.
The laid back nature of Australian managers is conform to to our Australian culture, but I believe as managers we could return from using a hierarchy system similar to that of the Japanese, as well as team building skill. Australias individualistic monastic order (pg. 406, reading 1.1) leads to great personal growth as a manager but not to the benefit of the team and preparedness of future young managers, which I see as an strategic part of managing a team.
Throughout my career I have worked for, what I see as, in effect(p) and not so good managers. The experiences I have had with all managers I have worked for has been subservient in developing my own style and identity as a manager.
