There are a lot of similar qualities that modern clothing have and some differences. You can see that modern clothing serves somewhat of a different purpose than a lot of vintage clothing did. Vintage clothing took on different roles for women depending on the date of reference that you were in. During the 20s it was a flashy world of mobsters and gangsters. The flapper dresses were embellished with beads and sequins. These dresses were normally just longer than the knee because of the style of bound that took place. And of course you couldnt go wrong with some pearls and a finger wave in your hair. From the 20s to the 30s there was a significant change in womens clothing. The dresses got longer and draped down to the ankles during the 30s. They had much floral and solid patterns and were not as flashy as the dresses worn in the 20s. The clothing was neat and sinewy and flattered the womanly figure. They wore more glamorous dresses that adorned metallic colors, shabu beads, and sequins. The great depression was what drove a lot of style in the 30s.

Because money was scarce a guileless print dress with different lengths for the time of day was what the women wore. The zippo was more commonly used because of its inexpensive nature compared to buttons and different fasteners. Its the 40s, the time of the hoop skirts and Miss Audrey Hepburn. immense shoulders and designer nylons were a big new trend. Sandals and loafers were the public shoes to wear. The 40s was during WWII and this was when women went from their homes into the work place to supplant the many man that went off to war.
